Year 6 09.10.25

Miss Line - 09 Oct 2025

Maths
In Maths this week we have been carrying on with long division and looking at how to answer calculations with remainders. We have also made a start on multi step maths problems where we are looking how to carefully pick out the calculations in worded problems to find the answer.

English
For English we have been continuing our work on descriptive writing and have been writing a character description of ‘Grimy Nick’ from our class text Street Child. We have been planning and writing a first draft which we then edited.

Science
In Science this week we have been continuing with our topic of Light where we focused on refraction. We looked at a number of experiments and made predictions on what would happen to certain objects as we looked at them when light travels through two mediums.

Docklands Museum
On Wednesday this week we visited the Docklands Museum to learn more about or History topic where we looked at what life was like in the Victorian times. We took part in a workshop where we explored a number of different objects that were used in homes and around the docks during the Victorian era. After lunch we had the chance to look around the museum in a number of different galleries such as Docklands at War, Trade Expansion and Sailortown.
