06.10.23

Miss Bates - 06 Oct 2023

Well done year 6 for another great week at school, its been lovely to see how hard you have all been working!

In English, we have been planning for our setting description which we will be writing next week. We have focused on the circus tent our main character ‘Jim’ works in; considering the atmosphere within the tent and our sense. When we write and edit our pieces of writing next week, we will be trying to include expanded noun phrases as well as focusing on our personalised target from our previous diary entry.

In maths, we have covered 4-digit x 2-digit multiplication and have looked at worded problems; pulling out key information and creating a calculation. We have just begun looking at short division and next week, we will begin to look at… (you’ve guessed it) long division! I will attach some links below to support prior learning if this is something you would like to look at, at home. The most crucial element of any multiplication/ division question is timetables – without a secure knowledge of these, it is much harder to access high level question.

In history, we have looked at Victorian inventions, the children have reasoned which invention they thought was the most influential and had the biggest impact on society.

As always, please continue to read 5 times a week and have this signed by an adult in reading records, along with page numbers. Please also make use of TTRS across the next week, 5 times a week for a minimum of 5 minutes a time. We are in a tournament with Year 4 so we need to be on there as much as possible to win!
