Miss Bates - 07 Oct 2022

Year 6 have been working extremely hard this week!

In maths we have moved on from learning about factors and multiples to looking specifically at multiplying. All children are confident multiplying a 2- or 3-digit number by a 1-digit number and we have been focusing our efforts on multiplying a 2-digit number by another 2-digit number. I'm so proud of year 6 for giving 100% effort with this!

In English, we have been looking at key skills like expanded noun phrases and will be applying this to a first-person recount about Jim at the circus during next week’s lessons.

The children have enjoyed learning about schools during the Victorian Era and have looked at similarities and differences between schools then vs now. They have also enjoyed an afternoon of sketching and painting landscapes to match that of Lowry’s style. We have been learning the difference between tint, tone and shade in art (so adults, this might be a good thing to ask about at home) and have applied this to our primary colours.

The children have taken home a comprehension text this week about Lord of the Rings with a questions sheet and a new set of spellings, all due in next Friday.
As always, children should be reading 5 times a week and getting this signed by an adult.

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to rest!
