24.11.25 - 28.11.25
Miss Pillai - 28 Nov 2025
In English, we explored how to use our five senses to create detailed and descriptive writing. We went on a sensory walk outside where the children identified what they could see, hear, smell and feel. Using this experience, they practised writing expanded noun phrases and then applied these skills when composing an email home about their holiday. Later in the week, pupils improved a poorly written setting description by adding in the skills they have learnt so far.
In maths, we focused on multiplication and division. The children looked closely at the 12 times table, identified patterns when multiplying and dividing by 0 and 1, and practised multiplying three numbers together. They showed great resilience as they tackled these new challenges.
In science, the children enjoyed painting their clay models of teeth. They then explored different animal skeletons, paying particular attention to the incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars. They compared similarities and differences and discussed how these features relate to the animal’s lifestyle and diet.
We also began our new DT unit, where the children learned about how to store food safely and keep it fresh. They had thoughtful discussions about different storage methods and why they are important.
The children have been sent home with a homework sheet this week.
