Well done year 6 for a working so hard during our busy week!
In maths, we have started our new topic of ‘Bakery’. We have researched cupcake recipes and used our knowledge of ratio and proportion to edit the recipes to ensure there are enough for our class. We then looked at finding the best value for our money, researching different products, their price and their quantity. The children were given the opportunity to bring their recipes to life by making their cupcakes during the week. They were able to measure, mix and bake the cupcakes – some turning out slightly more ‘cupcake like’ than others, but they all worked extremely hard to make them.
In English, we have continued our letter writing skills by planning and writing a letter to the current year 5s. Their letters were filled with things to look forward to and advice for their final year at Brady.
We have continued our reading of the book ‘holes’, drawing predictions of what we thought the warden would like, then using evidence from the text to draw them as they are really described
.
Thank you for all your donations of fruit, we were able to make our ‘Mexican inspired drinks’ today. The children measured, cut and mixed the fruit to cerate a variety of drinks, doing well to use the recipes as inspiration to make their own concoctions. Please see the pictures attached below.
Next week, to continue with our cooking adventures, the children will be making vegetarian tacos as one of our DT lessons. I hope you all have a relaxing weekend!
