Week 6 Summer 2 5S
11 Jul 2025
Well done for another fantastic week, 5S.
This week, in Maths, we began our topic on Volume. The children began by using cubes to work out the volume of 3D shapes such as cuboids and cubes. Then, we progressed our skills by comparing and estimating volume. This is a tricky concept but the children have shown great resilience with this topic so far.
In Reading, we have continued with our class text 'Treason'. We are very close to the end of the book now, and the class have been making informed predictions about what is going to happen, using evidence from the text to back up their answers. The children have also been working on their inference and explanation skills too.
For our Science lessons, we have continued with our topic 'Change and Adapt', for Science Week. We looked at different types of food packaging, and used our maths skills to measure and calculate the grams per area of different types of crisp packets. The children then researched and designed their own food packaging, thinking about sustainability.
Happy weekend, only just over a week to go!
