Year 5 Week 10

19 Nov 2021

This week in Year Five...

English Reading

We've been completing spoken reading comprehension conversations this week, looking to see if we can move on to the next step of our levelled reading books. We've also used the Chromebooks to write a biography of Michael Morpurgo, the author who wrote the adapted version of Beowulf that we've been reading this term.

Geography.

We used the computers in the Computing Suite to run Google Earth. We looked at our planet from 'space' and recgonised the continents and specific countries.

Computing

We are now ready to move on to coding our own games using Scratch. Our challenge is to use sequencing, repetition and selection in our algorithms. Once complete, we will debug our algorithms and seek to improve our games after receiving feedback from our friends.

Singing.

We've done a fair amount of practice for our Christmas Carol concert this week and have sung all the songs in class and with the rest of KS2.

Maths

This week has all be about measuring and calculating perimeter of rectilinear polygons. There is optional additional homework on Seesaw for those children to want an extra challenge.
