Week 5 Summer 2 5S

Well done for another great week, Year 5!

This week, in English, we started a brand new unit, preparing to write a Myth or Legend. We began the unit by looking at a WAGOLL, and exploring the different grammatical features we could find. Then, we learnt about how to use adverbs and conjunctions to aid cohesion in our writing. We also did a recap lesson on parenthesis, and the children wrote examples of how to use either brackets, commas or dashes to show this.

In Geography, we continued our topic 'Investisgating our World'. This week, we had two lessons; one focused on human geography, and the other on time zones. The children showed good engagment with these lessons, and were interested to compare key data from the different continents. They also enjoyed learning about Greenwich Mean Time, and looking at the time difference between the UK and various cities around the world.

In RE, we concluded our unit on Sikhism. Our final lesson involved us looking at The Khalsa and Guru Gobind Singh. The class enjoyed learning about the Guru's story, and why he asked his followers to trust him. They all showed a good und

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS - excluding Nursery

Children born between 01/09/2021 - 31/08/2022 are due to start Reception in September 2026.
Applications close on 15th January, 2026. Offer day is in the evening of 16th April, 2026.


If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), please note there's a different process for school transfers. You'll need to contact the Special Educational Needs Team directly at sen@havering.gov.uk to discuss changing your child's school.

School will finish for the Christmas Holidays on Friday 19th December (children will leave school at 1:15pm) and will return to school on Monday 5th January 2026.
