Well done Year 5, it has been a busy week!

This week, the children have bee completing their termly assessments. This consisted of: two Maths reasoning papers, one maths arithmetic paper, a GPS (grammar, punctuation, spelling) paper, one reading comprehension paper and one unseen spelling test. The children peformed extremely well in their reading paper, with them all making exceptional progress from autumn term. We are so proud of them! The maths and grammar papers were not as strong, but we all not the steps we need to take to progress in summer term.
At Parental Consultations next Wednesday 26th March, I will discuss your child's results with you further.

We also had lots of fun this week! In our D.T. lesson, we started our new topic 'Eat the Seasons'. Our first lesson was all about learning what seasonality is, and the benefits are of eating seasonal food. The children then got to try a range of fruit and vegetables that are in season at the moment. I was so proud of them trying every single piece of food- even the raw spring onion! They did a greta job of reviewing each piece of food, and describing the taste and texture.

Another exciting part of our week was going to Harris Academy on Wednesday afternoon! We were invited there, alongside Year 6, to participate in Science Week activities. These activities included growing our own bacteria, and making our own bath bombs! The children were very well behaved, and had a brilliant time in the lab. Hopefully their bath bombs were successfully used at home!

Please do not forget to book/attend your parental consultation slot next week.

Happy weekend!
