Week 4 Autumn 2 5S

21 Nov 2024

Well done for another great week, Year 5.

In Maths, we have continued with fractions. It has been great to see the confidence of the children grow and and grow as the unit has gone on. We have been converting our fractions by finding common denominators, to enable us to order and compare the size of the fractions.

In English, we completed our unit on poetry. The children wrote some brilliant poems, all based on a short film called 'The Lighthouse'. They included a range of figurative language in their poems, including hyperbole, personification and alliteration. I was very impressed with their creativity and use of descriptive language.

We have also begun a new unit in D.T., called 'Moving Mechanisms'. This unit focuses on pneumatics, and how machines work. We started looking at what pneumatics actually mean, and then we did our own experiment which you will see pictured below. As the unit goes on, we will be making our own machines.

Happy weekend.
