Week 5 Spring 5S

06 Feb 2026

Well done Year 5 for a lovely week.

In Reading, we finished our class text Macbeth. The children shared some amazing predictions and thoughtful responses as we reached the final act, showing great confidence in their retrieval and inference skills. We also enjoyed some brilliant discussions about the themes and language used in the play.

In History, we learned about the different social classes in the 14th century. The children explored how society was organised at the time and what life was like for people in each group, from peasants to nobles. They showed real curiosity and asked some excellent questions.

In English, we continued our work on balanced arguments. This week, we edited a WABOLL, to identify key features and improve it. The children are becoming more confident with formal language, connectives and how to present both sides of an argument. Next week, we will begin planning our own balanced arguments.

Please remember to read at least five times a week at home and continue practising on TTRS.

Have a lovely weekend!
