Well done Year 5 for another great week!

This week, in Reading, we continued with our class text Macbeth. We read the penultimate act and the children worked on their summary, explanation and retrieval skills. We had some good class discussions about some key vocabulary in the text, as well as the themes that run throughout, such as weather.

In History, we were learning all about a group called The Flagellants, who were around during the 14th and 15th centuries, and became particularly prolific during The Black Death. The children enjoyed learning about their unusual methods of punishment, and created some brilliant fact files all about them!

In English, we started our new topic, preparing to write a balanced argument. We began with our hook lesson, and the classes got to have their very own debate! They debated whether school should start later or not. It was a great opportunity for the children to explore their debating skills, and to look at both the for and against arguments too.

Thank you so much to all of the adults who came to our Class Assembly and Shared Learning. The children did an amazing job of remembering their lines, plus all of the lyrics to our two songs- we were so so proud of them!

Please ensure that you are reading 5 times a week at home, and visiting TTRS.

Happy weekend!
