Well done for another great week, Year 5!

This week, in English, we began our new unit preparing to write a diary entry. Our diary enttry is going to be written from the perspective of Macbeth, linking to our Shared Reading text. We covered skills such as cohesive devices (adverbs/adverbials) and apostrophes. We have also been doing some extra grammar based sessions, to boost the children's progress.

In Maths, we have begun our new unit- Fractions B. We have had a great start to the unit, with every child making great progress. So far, we have covered multiplying both unit and non-unit fractions, as well as multiplying a mixed number by an integer. Our final skill this week is looking at calculating a fraction of a quantity.

In Science, we have been continuing with our topic Porperties of Materials. Our lesson this week focused on soluble and insoluble materials. For this lesson, we did a small experiment where we used materials such as sugar and salt, and tested their solubility. The children enjoyed this, and most were able to use scientific language to explain the results of the experiment.

Have a lovely weekend.
Don't forget to read 5 times a week every week, and to go onto TTRS at least once.
