Week 6 5S
10 Oct 2025

Well done for another fantastic week, Year 5!
This week, in Maths, we begun our new unit on multiplication and division. The children have been split into groups again this year, and have so far done brilliantly with this change. We have started our new unit by looking at multiples and common multiples of numbers. The children who practise their times tables frequently have thrived during these lessons. However, it is evident which children are not practising them. Please ensure your child is still using TTRS at least once a week at home, in order to aid their learning.
In History, we learnt all about different Egyptian gods and goddesses. The children have been engaged throughout our whole topic on Pharaohs, and it has been wonderful to see how many of them have prior knowledge about the subject. They created some great profiles about the different gods and goddesses, including drawing pictures and describing what each god/goddess represented.
For Science, we continued ouor topic on Forces. The past lessons have been looking at air resistance in more detail, as well as measuring force using newton meters. The children also created their own pendulums and conducted an experiment using them, seeing how many times their pendulum swung in one minute, changing the length of it each time.
Today is Space Day! The children are so excited, and we can't wait to conduct our experiement. Pictures to follow!
Happy weekend.
Please do not forget that your children should be reading 5 times a week at home.
