This week we have been studying a range of topics, mostly related to Ancient Egypt, but also concepts that will improve our technical reading and writing skills.
English Writing
We studied what makes a text formal as opposed to informal. As most of our independent writing will need to be formal in tone, it was important that we learned the difference between the two. We also planned the structure of our fact files.
English Reading.
We practised our skimming and scanning skills to improve our quick retrieval skills. We also made strong, evidence-based predictions based on the battle between Beowulf and the monster Grendel.
Science
This week's Science lesson focused on how useful substances are extracted from natural resources. We discussed how overexploitation of resources could harm the environment.
