Week 5 Autumn 2 5S

Well done for another fantastic week, Year 5!
This week, we have started a new unit in English. We are preparing to write a persuasive letter. In preparation, we looked at some great examples of persuasive writing, as well as learning all about modal verbs and how to incorporate emotive language into our writing. The children did very well using modal verbs in extended sentences.
In Maths, we have continued our unit on fractions. The class have shown great resilience with some tricky concepts, such as adding mixed numbers. They have practised converting and simplyifying fractions, as well as subtracting fractions with different denominators. I am very proud of them.
For our Reading lessons, we have continued reading our book Hidden Figures. We have explored some key technical vocabulary, such as program, in the context of our book. The children have also summarised the key events of what has happened so far in the book.
Last week, we went on our trip to Greenwich Royal Observatory! The children were amazing; such brilliant role models and represented Brady Primary in such a fantastic way. We had a brilliant day!
