5S Week 4 Autumn 2
28 Nov 2024
Well done for working hard this week, Year 5.
This week was assessment week. Generally, the children worked very hard and produced some great scores in their assessments. It is a big jump from Year 4 to Year 5, and I am proud of their resilience. However, it is clear to see that the children who are reading consistently at home (at least 5 times a week) are performing well in thier reading comprehension assessment, whereas other children may not be as confident if they are not reading enough at home. Please ensure that you are trying your best to hear your child read aloud at least 5 times a week at home- without ebing able to read/comprehend, they will struggle in other areas too!
We have also had some fun this week. In D.T., we made our 'box talk', in which the children studied the use of pneumatics to make their own machine. Thank you so much to everyone who donated cardboard/plastic for this, we are very grateful. The children did a brilliant job and made some great machines.
We also have our first trip of Year 5 tomorrow! We are very excited to watch the planeterium show at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.
Happy weekend.
