Giraffes Can't Dance

Miss Kelly - 05 Mar 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week in Nursery we have had a lovely week reading the story Giraffes can’t dance. Continuing on with our topic for this half term of ‘Healthy Lifestyles’ we talked about how it is important to eat healthy food and keep fit by exercising. We also danced to different styles of music like the animals in the story and did some exercise to see how this would affect our bodies. Lots of the children observed that their heart was beating very fast afterwards!

This week in phonics we have been learning how to segment and blend words to read words. We met our new friend called Carrot (the rabbit) who only speaks through sounding out words. We have been playing lots of games to learn this and we thoroughly enjoyed I spy with Carrot’s little eye.

In maths, we have been doing lots of counting using 1:1 correspondence. We have also been practicing writing numbers.

World Book Day
Yesterday, we were able to celebrate World Book Day! All of the children looked fantastic in their favourite costumes and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to lots of stories. There were some special World Book Day activities uploaded onto Seesaw yesterday morning to help you have as much fun as we did in school celebrating. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed listening to lots of different stories.

Labelling uniform
Please could you label any new uniform you buy for your child clearly with their name.

PE
We will be starting PE again from next week and our PE session will be on a Tuesday PM. Therefore, if your child attends a Tuesday full day or PM session please send them into school in their PE kit.

Could you please also remove any earrings/ jewellery for Tuesday sessions ahead of PE.
Please note- each child will have the opportunity to take part in PE so if your child doesn’t currently attend a Tuesday PM session, then they may get their opportunity next term.

Opening hours of Nursery
From Monday 8th March, you will be asked to walk your child down the door of the Nursery to drop them into school. You will also have to collect them from the door. Our school hours will revert back to our previous hours. Please see the hours below.

AM- 8:30am- 11:30am
PM- 12:30pm- 3:30pm

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

Miss Kelly
