Miss Burgess Update 20/01/22

20 Jan 2022

This week in Nursery, we have started talking and learning about alliteration. We have tried to merge this learning with our animals topic by grouping together animals that start with the same sound.
I have found a nice prompt sheet with activities that you could do at home to further support this if you wish.

  -Home Learning Challenge Sheet FS2.pdf-

If you do complete any of these, please feel free to bring them in so the children can share this in class.

For our maths sessions, we have revisited positional language with the children and will use our knowledge next week when we will be using the Bee-Bot in class. I have found a brilliant game you can try at home that I will be using next week; https://beebot.terrapinlogo.com/
The children need to programme the Bee-Bot to get from one letter to another, this not only helps them with positional language but also letter recognition and shape recognition depending on which mat you choose.

We have also spent time reading our class story, ‘Poo in the Zoo’ the children loved this story and found it very entertaining. We even matched the big poos the big animals and small poos to the smaller animals. Finally, this week we have been revisiting name writing. We are so impressed by the children’s determination with their name writing and how far many of them have come.

The weather has been very cold recently and will be this way for a while so bringing a hat, scarf and gloves would be ideal. But as a reminder, please ensure that all of the children’s clothing items are labelled clearly, even gloves and hats.

Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on Monday,
Miss Burgess 😊
