Year 5 Summer Term - Week 5

19 May 2022

Certainly a mixed week in terms of weather...

Notices
Your child will have received a letter about our educational visit to Southend. Please complete and return the form by Monday 7th June.

English Writing
This week we have begun working towards writing a persuasive letter to Henry VIII as Anne Boleyn as she awaits her death in The Tower of London. We will try and manipulate, charm and persuade Henry into changing his mind.

Shared Reading
As we have completed our unit on The Highwayman, we've changed tact this week to focus on non-fiction texts, specifically newspapers.

Maths
Another new maths block this week - this one focuses on geometry and angles which marks a nice shift away from straight number work. This is an area of devleopment from Year 4, so it is imperative that we all focus on close any gaps in our learning!

Platinum Jubilee.
Ahead of next weeks celebrations we've been learning the National Anthem, a decade-specific dance and have begun our artwork inspired by the 1950s.
