Year 5 Summer Term - Week 2
29 Apr 2022
What a week!
This week we were visited by an Ofsted inspector who used his keen eye to inspect the quality of education at our school. Our Year 5 class was visited during a history lesson where we were researching and empahsising with the six wives of Henry VIII. As I was involved in meetings for English and Maths, I couldn't spend as much time in class as I would normally do, but I must say the behaviour, commitment and learning that took place in my absence was brilliant. A big thank you to Mrs. Fenoo and Mrs. Devlin for covering for me while I wasn't in class!
As an aside, every time we've recieved the 'call' from Ofsted, I've always been off site with a small group on an educational visit.
Besides history, we took notes about Henry VIII or Elizabeth I for our English unit focusing on biographies. We've definitely made progress with regards to taking succint notes.
For Maths we have been adding and subtracting decimals. While the fluency part of these processes are relatively easy, the reasoning and problem-solving can be tricky at times. We've made some fantastic progress towards our end of year targets.
