Year 5 Spring Term - Week 6

10 Feb 2022

We've come to the end of another half-term.

Year 5 children are now half-way through the year on their way to Year 6. So far the class has come a long way in terms of improving attitudes, learning behaviours and attainment, but things only get more challenging in terms of expectations as the year goes on!

English Reading
This week we studied the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. We drew the characters based on snippets of text that tell us about their personality and character, rather than their physical appearance.

English Writing
We put ourselves in the shoes of Wat Tyler, one of the leaders of the Peasants' Revolt of the 1380s. We wrote persuasive speeches to encourage others to join our cause.

Religion
We studied the story of Noah's Ark from the Book of Genesis. We thought about the wisdom that Christian's may draw from this story and what it tells us about the nature of the Christian God.

Maths
This week we have been adding and subtracting mixed numbers and concluded with a fractions assessment! There is a lot more learning about fractions to come after half term!
