Year 5 Spring Term - Week 5
03 Feb 2022
English Reading
This week we've got our teeth stuck into an abridged version of Macbeth. So far we have looked at an image of the three hags/witches and made inferences based on what we could see or imagine, and have summarised Macbeth's introduction to the narrative.
English Writing
Our descriptive monologues are finished and the results have been very positive and encouraging. Next, we'll be moving on to writing persuasive speeches, linking it to the Peasant's Revolt of the medival period.
Religion
Our topic focuses on what it means to be a Christian and this week we studied the concept of the Holy Trinity. We learned how to locate specific books, chapters and verses in the Bible and interpreted whether specific verses related to God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit.
PSHE
Our first PSHE topic for this term focuses on 'image sharing' and how people share images for positive reasons, such as pride or to communicate with loved ones, but that certain situations can be negative examples of image sharing. Children made a binary moral choice about what was right or wrong in a set scenario and then listened to adult and children's views on the topic. There were a few shocked faces to say the least!
