Miss Burgess Update 28/1/22

28 Jan 2022

Happy Friday!😊

This week in Nursery, we have moved our animal focus over to farm animals.

We have been learning which animals live on a farm and what noises these animals make. This week, we have had a focus song; ‘Old MacDonald’s Farm’ rather than a book. The children enjoyed acting out being these animals and were excited to share their knowledge about the animals and which one was their favourite.

In small groups, we have also had the opportunity to play the game, ‘Foxy Pants.’ During this game, the children had to listen carefully to the instructions, wait their turn and pay attention to the game. The children loved this game and played well as part of a small group. We will continue to develop turn taking and sharing skills by introducing a new board game / multiplayer game each week. If you have any old games you no longer play, please feel free to bring them in to us. We gladly accept donations of age appropriate games and toys in a good condition.

Next week, we will focus our learning around a popular Julia Donaldson story; A squash and a squeeze. Our learning will still focus around farm animals and we are continuing with our understanding of alliteration. We will also covering sharing in maths, specifically, sharing amounts fairly / equally between two groups or people.

Finally, I would just like to share that over the last few weeks the children have grown extremely fond of the Michael Rosen classic ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ They have loved watching the video and we have come up with some actions of our own- I have attached the link below so you can see if they will share this with you at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy looking over the pictures below and I will see you all on Monday,
Miss Burgess 😊
