Year 5 Spring Term - Week 1

06 Jan 2022

I hope you all managed to have a restful break over the latter half of December and the early part of January.

This week we have begun our new topic: 'Peasants, Princes and Pestilence' which focuses on the medieval period of British history.

English Writing:

We have begun work on descriptive monologues where we are imaginging we are the character of 'Death'. Children are learning to dramatically describle themselves using similes, metaphors and personificaiton.

Shared Reading:

We begun this term with a famous poem by William Wordsworth named 'I wandered lonely as a cloud'. We have looked at the parts of a poem, the figurative language used and why we think Wordsworth wrote the poem.

Science

Our topic this half term is 'Changing materials' - a chemistry focused unit. So far we have looked at how we might seperate materials using filtering, sieving and evaporation.
