Year 5 Week 13
09 Dec 2021
This week we've used our time to consolidate our learning in some areas while also embracing the Christmas spirit.
Maths
In Maths we completed some puzzles known as 'magic' squares where each row, column and diagonal adds to the same total. This reinforced our addition and subtraction skills while also refreshing our memories of mental number bonds. We also reflected on our most recent summative assessments and pracised multi-step word problems.
Design and Technology
We have begun to construct our junk-model rockets and spacecraft and have begun to decorate them so that they look like realistic NASA craft.
Wonderdome
On Thursday we were visited by Steve from Wonderdome. We had the experience of being in an immersive planetarium all from the comfort of our own school hall. This was a nice ending for our learning about space this half term as we were able to ask informed questions that fill in some of the gaps in our knowledge while experiencing visualisations.
