Miss Burgess Update 26/11

26 Nov 2021

This week in Nursery we have spent lots of time talking about where things are. Our focus story this week was ‘Where’s my teddy?’ which focused our learning around positional language. The children enjoyed the following song as they found it entertaining but also because it linked to our learning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idJYhjGyWTU

The children have also been working hard on recognising the first letter / whole of their name and we are working hard on encouraging the children’s fine motor skills with lots of pencil control and tracing over their name.

Finally this week, we revisited our conversation around emotions and introduced the emotion ‘scared’. We linked this back to our story and spoke about how the characters would have been feeling scared that they couldn’t find their teddy. We then spoke about times we might have felt scared and what made us feel happy again.

Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on Monday 😊

Reminders and information:
  • Parent Consultation meetings are now happening via Zoom, you should have received a link for this during the week. Please do not join the meeting until a few minutes before your time slot and ensure that your name is clearly identifiable for me please.
  • Please keep encouraging the children to put on and take off their own coats as this really helps us in class.
  • As the weather is now colder and children are coming in with hats and gloves ect. Can you please make sure these are labelled where possible, at the end of your child’s session there will be a box outside for you to retrieve your child’s additional items to make the transition between sessions a little smoother.
  • Next week, our story will look at moving houses and homes in general. If you would like, please send in a picture of your home if you have moved recently, or a picture of your child’s favourite room in your home for us to talk about in class. It would be nice to display these in class so please send a photo that you are happy for me to keep in class for a little while.
