Year 5 Week 8
06 Nov 2021
It is good to be back in school with a new topic to inspire us.
This week we have been studying the significance of astronomers such as Galileo and Copernicus who changed humanity's understanding of our place in our own galaxy.
Our English writing and Science activities have both focused on the moon. We made folding reminders of the 8 phases of the moon and revised the names of each of the phases. To build on this, for our writing, we will write our own myths about how the moon came into existence and an explanation of how the moon's phases started.
Our first maths topic this half term focuses on multiplication and division. So far we have studied factors, multiples and prime numbers.
This week a newsletter and optional topic homework was sent out. Please check your child's bag if this hasn't been given to you. Also of note are the forthcoming parental consultations. Please book your appointments (when they go live) to avoid disappointment if a particular session appeals to
you.
