1ST Autumn 2 week 5

Mrs Staples - 09 Dec 2024

This week has been a very ‘off timetable’ week with lots of nativity practise, an exciting road safety roadshow and our normal lessons. The children have coped with the changes remarkably – well done!

English
This week in English, we have been coming to the end of our Jolly Postman unit. The children have finished writing their invitations to bring home – make sure you look out for them in their school bags!

Maths
In maths, we have started our new unit about shapes, starting with recognising 2D shapes. We have investigated triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. The children were muddled between some of the shapes so do remind them at home, which shape is which.

Other
In science, we continued looking at different materials and objects. The children explored different materials suitable to make curtains on a rocket using a rocket template and a torch. They had a wonderful time exploring a variety of transparent and opaque materials in the classroom and then discovered many materials in the school grounds too. It was fantastic to see them using their initiative and becoming fantastic scientists!
In DT the children made their taxis in pairs. There was some fantastic teamwork taking place and the children made some wonderful creations.

Reminder:
Thank you for all the nativity costumes we have received, The children are very excited to see you at our performances next week!
