Year 1 have had a great week back!
English
In English, we have started our new topic on performing poetry. This week we have used our physical oracy skills to reassure that we are correctly pronouncing and performing our poems. We had focused on the poem ' Wildlife Rules' which the children had practised, rehearsed and performed in 'unison'.
Maths
This week in maths we have started place values within 50. Children have been learning to count forwards and backwards to 50. We have also been grouping in 10s, e.g. 2 tens and 3 ones in 23.
History
In History, we have started teh new topic of 'Childhood', where we have started looking at the old toys that children had played with during the Victorian times. We had compared this with the toys we play with today and looked at which materials are used to make them. Next week, we will begin to look at 'timelines'.
Science
We started the topic 'materials', where we have looked at shades and shelters and the materials used. We had to choose the best material to use to protect Incy Wincy spider from the rain.
Reminders
We will need photos of the children from a baby to now for our timelines. If this is not possible, we will accomodate children who do not have photos.
