1ST Autumn 2 week 3
Mrs Staples - 22 Nov 2024
It has been a chilly but fabulous week in Year 1.
English
This week in English, we have continued reading Paddington Bear. The children have been able to write their own set of instructions explaining, how to bath a bear with great use of adjectives and nouns. Well done everyone!
Maths
In maths, we have been recapping our fact family work and continuing to practise subtraction We are still finding this a little tricky, so any opportunity to practise at home is much appreciated!
Other
In science, we continued looking at different materials and objects. The children explored different materials and identified the properties of these. We also explored which of those materials would be suitable for use on a space rocket!
In geography, we explored London using Google maps. The children enjoyed identifying different landmarks and pointing out places that they had visited.
In DT, we planned our London taxis. If you have not sent in a small box yet, please do so ASAP so the children can make their taxis in class – thank you!
Reminder:
Thank you for all the nativity costumes we have already received. Please send these in ASAP with a name, clearly labelled – thank you.
For the Rainbow Day raffle Year 1 are collecting pink items. Please hand these to your class teachers and don't forget, rainbow non-uniform on Friday 29th November.
