Miss Burgess update 9/12/22

09 Dec 2022

English

In English this week, we continued to use Paddington at the Zoo as our focus text. We looked carefully at the images and wrote sentences using adjectives to describe the different animals. While writing our sentences, the children were also focusing on using capital letters and full stops all in the correct places. We have really been focusing on letter formation and presentation this week during our handwriting lessons.

Maths

In Maths, we have been using our shape knowledge to complete, design and spot problems in repeating patters that use 2D and 3D shapes. The children have been enjoying using their shape knowledge to solve problems and work collaboratively with their classmates to spot and correct mistakes.

Trip to Wennington Chruch

The children loved their trip to the Church this Wednesday!

While at the Church, we got the listen to the Nativity Story, complete a craft activity and a scavenger hunt around the Chruch. The children were very well behaved and enjoyed learning more about Christianity and sharing their current knowledge with Reverand Elise.

Other

In Science this week the children have been learning about absorbent and non-absorbent materials. We completed an experiment to test different objects to see if they were absorbent or not, we spoke about the materials that these objects were made from and how this has an impact on their absorbency.

Finally, we had a wonderful Christmas Dinner this week. The children loved pulling their crackers and sitting with their friends and teachers during lunch time.
