Miss Burgess Update 5/7/24

05 Jul 2024

English’
In English this week continue to explore Little Red Riding Hood.’  This week we made our own shopping list and included healthy foods on our shopping list to help make granny feel better and we also wrote a poem about Little Red Riding Hood. We did ‘Hot Seating’ where children (one child at a time) pretended to be a character from the story and the rest of the children asked them questions, it helps to support children to develop their questioning and listening skills in an engaging way. It also invites children to recount a specific event and explore multiple perspectives/experiences related to a theme, topic, event or idea. We also wrote apology letter to Granny on behalf of Mr Wolf.
Maths
In maths this week we are still exploring our topic ‘Money’ we learnt to sort and count different coins, we learnt to recognise notes and we compared different amounts.
Other
In DT this week, we had lots of fun! We started our new topic ‘Food Preparation’. We looked at different fruit/vegetables that can be chopped, sliced, grated, peeled and mashed. We also had a go at grating, chopping, slicing, peeling and mashing the food.
On Wednesday, just the day before general election, we spoke about general election and how voting process is carried out. We then casted our own vote using Brady’s Ballot papers.
