Miss Burgess Update 28/4/23

28 Apr 2023

English
This week we recapped on our knowledge of using capital letters for proper nouns, we also learnt about common nouns and using other punctuation marks including full stop, exclamation mark and question mark. We learnt about being kind to everyone and everything, we only have one planet Earth so we must look after it! We wrote our own different type of sentences i.e. statements, questions and commands using appropriate punctuations to look after planet Earth. We designed our own posters and added details to it to invite someone on our planet Earth from a different planet. We learnt features of writing an informal letter and planned writing our letter.

Maths
During our maths lessons this week, we had lots of practice in counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We learnt to recognise equal and unequal groups, adding equal groups using our knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We also learnt to make arrays to make counting easier.

Other
On Monday we took part in scooting workshop, we learnt to balance on our scooters and learnt the techniques of riding 2 wheeled and 3 wheeled scooters.

In PSHE, we discussed how to look after ourselves and our body. In Art, we looked at American pop artist James Rizzi, we looked at different pieces of art work created by him and tried to recreate one of them, In Science, we looked at mammals and birds. We were able to sort them in different categories e.g. with fur/feathers, we were also able to describe them if they are warm blooded, lay eggs, has hair/fur on their body, has feathers, tail. Etc
