Mrs Shah update
23 May 2025
We practiced our phonics many times throughout the week, in whole class sessions, small groups and in one to one sessions and we will continue to do that first week back to prepare children for phonics screening test.
In English, children produced a ‘Lost’ poster for Beegu adding labels and a short paragraph about Beegu using a range of adjectives. Children also made links between what they read and their own experiences on the playground. Children then worked in small groups to role-play different playground situations. They thought about how they would feel in different situations. Children added speech bubbles to the images of the playground scene- thinking carefully about what each of the characters might say. We also challenged children and looked at adding speech marks into their own work.
During our maths lessons this week, we found half of an object/shape and half of a quantity. We also looked at ‘quarters’, we learnt to recognise and find quarters of a shape/object.
In Geography, we looked at different types of settlement. We learnt features of a village, town and city.
Thank you for sending children in Victorian outfits on Wednesday, children had an amazing day! They got to play with Victorian toys, dug out Victorian artefacts like an archaeologist, made their own Victorian peg dolls and experienced Victorian classroom. They learnt many facts about Victorian Era.
Have a lovely half term!
