Year 1 Summer 1 Week 3

06 May 2022

English
This week the children have written a diary entry from the view point of Algernon (our main character from our focus text). The children thought carefully about the features of a diary such as writing in first person and past tense. Their diaries were great to read!

Maths
Maths was a little challenging for all children this week as they had to apply many skills they have recently learnt to solve word problems based around mass and weight. They practised finding the difference and adding the mass of more than one object together.

Science
In Science, the children learnt about different animal groups such as mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish. They enjoyed comparing different animals and questioning why they fit in certain categories.
