Miss O'Sullivan Update 6/1/23
06 Jan 2023
Welcome Back! 😊
Our topic this term is ‘Childhood,’ this topic teaches children about everyday life and families today, including comparisons with childhood in the 1950s, using artefacts and a range of different sources. This topic will incorporate English, Science, History, Music as well as Art, RE and Computing.
English
This week in English we have looked at our new class text; Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge. The children enjoyed this story and we have started to describe Wilfrid and his actions in the story.
Maths
In maths we are now looking at place value within 20. We are focusing on counting forwards and backwards within twenty and developing the understanding of 15 is equal to 1 ten and 5 ones.
Visit
This week KS1 had a special road safety roadshow visit from Zebe and Peli, who taught us all how to cross the road safely. This was a fun way to learn a vital skill.
Other
During our Science lesson this week we have started a new topic where we will learn all about the human body. We labelled and discussed the different areas of the body and what they are used for. In Art we made our own Art gallery! We walked around a looked at many famous portraits, while walking around we compared the different art work and then had a go at completing our own self-portrait.
Finally, please see attached the newsletter and homework map for this half term.
