Mrs Shah update

16 May 2025

In English, we started our new book ‘Beegu’. Children discussed and retold the story using selection of images from the story. Children then wrote sentences using correct punctuation marks. Children also wrote a descriptive paragraph about ‘Beegu’, using ‘and’ to join words and clauses. Children then learnt to make inferences based on what is being said and done by thinking about the feelings of some of the characters in the text
During our maths lessons this week, we practiced multiplication and division. We practiced making doubles, adding equal groups and sharing equally between 2, 3 and 4. E.g. sharing 12 sweets between 4 children, sharing 9 hats between 3 etc We also started looking at a new topic, fractions. We focused on understanding and recognising what a half of a shape looks like. We discussed that half must have two equal parts.
In Geography, children learnt to use directional language by giving instructions to their partners using correct terminology. We also discussed what weather and climate means. We learnt about invisible line ‘equator’ and how countries on the equator have hot climate compare to countries that are further away from the equator.
In Science, we learnt about deciduous and evergreen trees. We went around the school playground to find different shaped leaves e.g. toothed shape, lobed shape, large leaves, leaflets, spiky leaves..etc.
In Computing, we learnt about keyboard. Children typed their names and learnt to save it in the file.

Reminder: Phonics meeting on Thursday 22nd May 2025.
