In English, children in year 1 designed their own secret sky gardens and were fantastic at labelling ideas with adjectives. They then wrote setting description. We carried on learning different ways for describing, we also learnt to use similes for effect while describing. Children looked at plant Life Cycle and explained the process of how a flower grows.
During our maths lessons this week, we practiced counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We learnt songs about counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and completed worksheets.
In Science, children worked with a partner and planted seeds; they planted one seed in cotton wool and one in a pot of soil. We are looking forward to write our bean diary and note down when the beans starts germinating.
In Art, we looked at American pop artist James Rizzi, we looked at different pieces of artwork created by him and tried to recreate one of them.
In Geography, we learnt positional language, we then drew maps of our classroom and used correct terminology to describe positions of objects in our classroom..
Children in 1S were amazing and very well behaved for cycle instructors.
Please make sure that children have sun cream on, they bring in their water bottles and if possible, a hat.
