Mrs Shah update

21 Mar 2025

Year 1 has had a fantastic week, especially with the sunshine making an appearance! Despite it being assessment week, the children worked incredibly hard, completing several tests—they should be very proud of themselves.
In English, we explored adjectives to describe the characters in The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and the children wrote character descriptions based on one of them. In Maths, we focused on the concepts of one more, one less, and estimating on a number line.
In Science, we discussed the signs of Spring, just in time to enjoy the sunshine at the end of the week. In DT, the children impressed us with their construction and problem-solving skills while building model dens and tents.
In Music, we explored musical conversation, where the children played percussion instruments in pairs, only playing when their partner had stopped—it was loud but fantastic!
A huge well done to all the children for their hard work this week!
