English
This week we recapped on our knowledge of using capital letters for nouns, we also learnt about common nouns and using other punctuations including full stop, exclamation mark and question mark. We learnt about being kind to everyone and everything, we only have one planet Earth so we must look after it! We wrote our own different type of sentences i.e. statements, questions and commands using appropriate punctuations to look after planet Earth, we also wrote our invitations for someone from a different planet, inviting them on to planet Earth. Following our visit to Rainham Marshes, we wrote diary entries about our trip.
Maths
This week we looked at ‘quarters’, we learnt to recognise and find quarters of a shapes/objects and quarter of quantity. We used different resources e.g. different shape cut outs, counters and unifix cubes to help understand the concept ‘quarter’ during our lessons.
Other
In Science we looked at the animals that lived in the wild and pets. Year 1 children had fantastic time at Rainham Marshes yesterday, their behaviour was outstanding on the trip.
