Year 1S - Mrs Sardar Class News

English
In English this week we first thought and discussed as a class how we were going to write our diary entry and what to include. We discussed each step in detail. We then wrote our diary entiry,  we made sure to include date, addressed it as ’Dear Diary’, wrote it in the first prson, used past tense, discussed and wrote about events in correct order and included feelings.
Maths
This week we have been doubling numbers, used near doubles to work out the answers and we learned to subtract ones using number bonds. We have also been learning about subtracting by counting back.  Finally we worked out subtraction questions in our head and wrote the answers during our mental maths session.
Other
In Science this week we have explored another one of our senses, smell! We discovered how our nose smells and discussed different flavoured smells. We also learnt that our sense of smell helps in sense of taste. In RE we learnt about ‘Islam’. We learnt about what a Mosque is and listened to the story of a crying camel, we then were able to re- tell/write the story in the right order. In computing we have been looking at Kandinsky’s art, we created our own Kandinsky inspired art work on the chrome books.
