Summer term begins with "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"

Mr Hetchin - 21 Apr 2017

The children have been working very hard this week and it's been wonderful to see how quickly the children have settled back into the routines.

This week we have been reading "the boy who cried wolf". As a class we looked at the plot of the story and it's moral. The children shows great understanding and acted out the story in the outside area. We have also learnt about the lives of wolves; what they eat, where they live and their different traits.

The children also had the opportunity to explore shadows by making their own puppets. We looked at how shadows block light and create the "same image".

In Maths this week the children have been learning about 3D shapes. We looked at developing an understanding that we can pick up a 3D shape, but we cannot pick up 2D shapes. The children have also been learning to name the 3D shapes as well as recognise and counting faces on a shape.

In phonics we have been focusing on recognising high frequency and tricky words. The children have gone on a high frequency word hunt in the classroom.

A reminder that only water is permitted in drinks bottles, no juice, squash or dizzy drinks.

Next week we will be looking at the story of "Goldilocks". In Maths we will be looking at doubling and halving.

The children are also very excited that we will be having a visit from an Owl.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mr Hetchin and the foundation team.
