Spring 1 Week 5

Mrs Divall & Miss Skelton - 01 Feb 2024

This week we have continued our learning of Dangerous Dinosaurs.

We listened to the story ‘If I Had a Dinosaur’ by Gabby Dawnay. We spoke about all the things we would do if we had a dinosaur for a pet! We then spoke about how dinosaurs move very differently to us. We used paper to create tails, spikes, horns and long necks and roleplayed being dinosaurs. We stopped our feet, snapped our jaws and swished our tails to the rhythm.

Yesterday we took part in a volcano science experiment! We built a volcano out of sand and sculpted it into the perfect shape. Together we mixed bicarbonate of soda, water, washing up liquid and red food colouring. We measured the ingredients very carefully to ensure our reaction would work! We then very quickly poured white vinegar into the top of our volcano and watched the ‘lava’ erupt!

In Maths, we have been learning all about 6,7 and 8. We read the story Six-Dinner Sid by Inga Moore. We chose 6 dinners to feed greedy Sid. We practiced forming our numbers 1-6 correctly, making sure they’re the right way round! We have also practised sorting and matching 6,7,8.
