Reception learn about Handa's surprise

Mr Hetchin - 04 Mar 2017

Wow, what a busy week it has been in reception. Not only was it world book day but myself, Miss Marsh, Miss Hopkins and Miss Hunt  have been looking at the book "Handa's surprise" with the children.

In phonics some of the children have learnt the /or/ and /ar/ sounds, and others have been practising writing words. We have also started introducing high frequency words, words we see all the time, please practise these with your children,  and it's great to see how quickly the children have picked the sounds up.

In maths the children have learnt to compare, length, measurement and weight. Lots of the children now use the correct vocabulary and even know how a balance scale works.

Next week we will looking at the book "Oliver's fruit salad" by Vivian French.

It has been fantastic to get to know the class over the last two weeks and I look forwards to meeting you all at the parental consultations.
