Week 3- Friday 20th November 2015

The weather hasn’t been great this week, but the learning in Year One has been fantastic!
We’ve been writing through ‘The Bog Baby’ our own stories. The children have amazed me with their vocabulary and exciting sentences. I’m particularly pleased with the quality of the story endings. The children have been engrossed in this story and it will be something we’ll continue to use to enhance our writing.

Our learning in Maths has focussed on looking at money. The children have been looking at recognising different coins and using the ‘correct’ money to pay for them. We will be moving onto looking at giving change to different items. The concept of using different coins has been an interesting and useful learning point.
The children this week have been looking at what different foods animals eat. They enjoyed sorting out the animals into different food groups. We have many children in our class who are ‘animal experts.’
I look forward to seeing everyone at Parents’ Evening next Monday and Tuesday.
