The Gruffalo

This week in Reception, we have been reading ‘The Gruffalo.’

So far, we have role played the story, painted portraits of the Gruffalo, made character masks, as well as reading all about him. We are going to build traps to catch him in the garden…and draw maps to find him. We have also been looking at numerals 10-20, and holding a big number in our head then using our fingers to count on. We’re going to carry on practising this!

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS - excluding Nursery

For school admissions information and to apply, go to:

Children born between 01/09/2021 - 31/08/2022 are due to start Reception in September 2026.
Applications close on 15th January, 2026. Offer day is in the evening of 16th April, 2026.

If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), please note there's a different process for school transfers. You'll need to contact the Special Educational Needs Team directly at sen@havering.gov.uk to discuss changing your child's school.

School will finish for the Christmas Holidays on Friday 19th December (children will leave school at 1:15pm) and will return to school on Monday 5th January 2026.
