Reception Autumn 2 Week 4

Miss Booth Miss Skelton - 30 Jan 2026

What a Roarsome week we have had in Reception! The pupils have been busy exploring, creating and learning through lots of exciting dinosaur-themed activities.

We have made dinosaur dough and used it to explore shape, size and creativity. The pupils have been measuring their footprints and comparing the size to a T-REX! We measured the heights of different dinosaurs and ordered them from smallest to tallest using mathematical language such as, taller, shorter and tallest. In our number work, we focused on adding numbers up to 10, using practical rescources to support our learning.

This week we learned about endangered animals as part of National Geographic Day! We discussed why some animals need protecting and how we can help care for our world. The pupils created their own animal handprint artwork, celebrating different animals in a fun and meaningful way.

In topic, pupils drew their favourite dinosaur, carefully adding detail. We practised using initial sounds to label our pictures and worked on writing simple sentences about our dinosaurs.

Thank you for your continued support at home. We hope you have a lovely weekend.
