Reception Autumn 1 Week 4
The Reception Team - 26 Sep 2025
In Maths this week we have been exploring matching and sorting. The children have enjoyed working with shapes, colours, and patterns, using everyday objects and fun resources such as funky socks to spot similarities and differences.
We have also been reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, comparing sizes and using language like big, medium and small to describe the objects and characters. Today, as part of European Languages Day we learnt all about italy and got to make pizzas! We practised saying some italian words such as pomodoro which means tomato!
In topic this week we have read Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and focused our learning on friendship. We have discussed why it is important to be a good friend to others. The children created lovely icy scenes inspired by the story. We spoke about how we would feel if a penguin came to visit us!
Next week we are continuing our topic Me and My Community, starting with a special visitor!
