Sum 2 Week 2- Reception go looking for Pirate Frank's treasure

Mr Hetchin - 16 Jun 2017

The children have looked at the book "The treasure of Pirate Frank". A story all about a little boy hunting out the famous  treasure of Pirate Frank. As part of the topic the children have designed their own pirate flags, made their own treasure maps and explored rhyming words. We have also practised writing sentences about pirates, with a special focus on finger spaces and remembering our sentences.

In maths we have explored subtraction and practised using different strategies to solve number sentences. With the sun shining the children have loved going outside in the garden and acting out their own pirate stories on the the clumbing frame boat.

In P.E we have started practising for sports day and Mrs Hopkins and Miss Hunt suggest we have some real budding athletes among our ranks.

With the weather set to be exceptionally hot please do remember to supply your child with a sun hat and water bottles! We will be having plenty of shade breaks from the heat.

Next week we will be learning about the story Supertato and exploring the properties of 3D shapes.

Here's to another exciting week.
